Ministry of Culture is a clothing, waxed canvas bag, and accessories company that takes a holistic approach to fashion. Dedicated to the Slow Design movement, Ministry of Culture embraces traditional craft and folk art design techniques from around the world striving to elevate them through modern design to create our distinctive collection. In addition to our line of sustainable Hemp and Natural Fiber clothing, we reuse discarded fabric in our embellishments and block print our designs to alleviate chemical waste. Our unique brand of design promotes social consciousness through the quality and functionality of each piece.

About Ministry of Culture

Dedicated to the slow design movement, Ministry of Culture specializes in thoughtfully designed hats, waxed canvas bags, and sustainable clothing. Taking a holistic approach to design, we integrate low-waste practices, source USA-made materials, and emphasize reuse models to create high-quality functional pieces geared to last with a minimal footprint.

Ministry of Culture is a one-woman show. Everything is run, designed, and handmade by me, Brianna. Taking a holistic approach to design, I integrate low-waste practices, USA-made materials, and emphasize reuse models to make high-quality functional pieces geared to last with a minimal footprint.

With this focus on sustainability through each step of the process, from conception to pattern creation and finally to finished product, I do my best to keep my environmental impact low.

Fabric selection is an important part of the process. I prioritize USA-made fabrics made from hemp, organic cotton, and recycled materials to create unisex outdoor clothing, 5-panel and 6-panel baseball caps, waxed canvas bags, and other accessories.

My unique approach to design promotes socially responsible fashion through each piece's quality and functionality. I find it important to think of design as circular and promote the repair and reuse of each piece as much as possible.

For the last few years, I have also been working on completing my Master’s Degree in Peace and Justice Leadership. The program has allowed for an opportunity to pursue a fellowship in Washinton, DC where I can gain hands-on experience on how to create a more just and peaceful world from current peacebuilding practitioners.

It has not stopped my passion for art and creating quality goods. While I look for ways to incorporate my studies with my current practices, I have moved my studio to DC, where I will continue to sling out hats, clothing bags, and other gear.

What does this mean for you?

I am still making the same quality goods, but I won’t be up in the Northeast Kingdom as often to arrange for studio visits or local pickup. Feel free to send me an email @ ministry.of.culture.designs@gmail.com if you’d like to connect about Peacebuilding projects or art shows or if you would like to arrange a local pick-up the next time I am back up North.

I still love the NEK; it's my home and where my family lives. I still have many roots in the community there and will continue to find ways to promote, enrich, and give back to the place I grew up.
